about

This is the first Unwell album since 2017, comprised of music I recorded at various times throughout the intervening four years. During that time I've experienced some of the highest highs and lowest lows of my life. In the last two years in particular I've gone through all kinds of hell, which I'm sure is also true for many people reading this. Often I've felt utterly lost and defeated, but through it all there has been some part of me, a glimmer of something beyond me, that is eternally calm and unwaveringly hopeful. At times I've lost sight of it amidst some dark hour, yet behind all the rise and fall it glimmers on, quietly pulling me along like some invisible but unbreakable thread. That's essentially what this album is about - the unseen and sometimes imperceptible angels that guide us through the many hells in which we find ourselves.

The album's title is the last line of Deakin's transcendentally beautiful song "Good House," and the cover art is based on a shape I perceived while listening to it on a memorable day one year prior to this release. "Safe From Oblivion" is named after a lyric from "Slow Eyes" by Bed Rugs, a band for whom I can't overstate my love.

Music and artwork by Daniel Holideigh.

Thank you for listening and reading and continuing to exist in this absurd world we inhabit.

"Nobody is going anywhere
Nobody is coming from anywhere
We're all here
We're all here
In eternal time and space
We're always going to be here
We're just doing Lila Rasa
The divine dance we're dancing
And dancing and dancing
Dance after dance
In one body
In another body
And we're all here
We're all staying right here"
